lacy laser cut leather

I have a thing for lacy laser cut leather (say that ten times fast). I loved when Heidi Klum wore the trend in a metallic dress, and I'm dying for Nicole Richie's more gothy version. It's a great way to take simple silhouettes and add interest and dimension. Leather tends to be rather stiff, and putting intricate detailing gives it more movement. It takes away some of the toughness and adds femininity while also being a little flirty, exposing unexpected skin.

Inspired by Miss Richie, I'm dying to get in on this trend. I love it in surprising pieces, like a t-shirt, but it's also a fun way to make basic pieces, like an a-line skirt and shorts, edgy and unique. Nicole and Heidi both went all out for the trend, Nicole paired her top with similar looking black waxed jeans, and Heidi wore it in an entire dress, and was anything but basic with the silver color. However, I think this could look equally as cute worn in a more subtle way. It would give a leather jacket a girlie feel, or add some sexiness to a pair of menswear inspired oxford shoes.
