So the blog has fallen by the wayside. I've missed writing regularly! You see, I recently made a big move, from DC to LA. For a little while, I was on the road, driving across the country. Then, I was looking for a job and an apartment, now, we are finally settled, but we have no internet! I have a great job at a music/entertainment/fashion company in Hollywood, with an adorable apartment right by the beach, and I couldn't be happier. I'm loving California and it's so amazing to be inspired by the different fashion and lifestyles here.

So there you have it! I know I've been alluding to the "big change," and have been totally M.I.A. I should have Internet up and running at my apartment shortly and can't wait to share my new fashion and lifestyle inspirations with all of you! In the meantime, any LA natives have any shopping/eating/anything suggestions for me to try? I'm loving exploring the area and am so excited to figure out my new city!

my day job: summer style

I've mentioned my job before, and this weekend I had the opportunity to cover a couple of great local fashion events. I love when my work overlaps with my blog. News and fashion are my two passions, and a lot of the writing that I do at work is a lot more "hard news," compared with what I talk about with you all. It's amazing when I get to write about Rebecca Minkoff and Shoshanna for my job. It's a little taste of what I hope to be able to do full-time one day.

my day job

Like most of you wonderful bloggers, as much as I love Doux Rousse, I have a regular job. I work at NBC Washington here in D.C. I love what I do and am super lucky. The drawbacks are waking up at 3:30 every morning, but I also get really cool opportunities like this one. A little while ago I went out and interviewed Stacy London about her Style Tours that she was launching in the area.

Stacy is so amazing. First of all, she's so dynamic. Interviewing her was so easy. She gives amazing sound bites and knows exactly what she's talking about when it comes to style, demographics and business. Her mission with Style Tours and Style for Hire is awesome: aiming to make fashion accessible and not intimidating. She was so friendly and professional. She looked gorgeous and asked her "people" if her hair color looked anything like mine because she had just dyed it for the first time ever the day before! Gone was her famous grey streak, replaced by gorgeous honey highlights.

As a broadcast journalist, and a style lover, Stacy is one of the people I look up to most. She's fashion-minded but has a great work ethic and really knows what she's doing. Hope you enjoy the video! If you want, you can check out the story here.

computer commuter

Yesterday, as I was trapped in the Apple store for four hours while my laptop's hard drive was replaced (so sad), I got to thinking (as one will do when going crazy). iPhone cases have become as important an accessory for fashionistas as jewelry and shoes. Everyone's phone is always out, on their ear, snapping pictures, glued to the palm of their hands. Phones are probably seen even more than shoes, actaully! There's nothing cuter than a sweet monogrammed case or gold Kate Spade polka dots.

However, I haven't thought about a case for my laptop since college. In high school I had some ugly, grey sleeve I kept my computer in. It carried with me for a few years in college, until it fell to the wayside and I basically threw my laptop in my bag with everything else in my life, including notebooks, pens, wallet, drinks, etc. There were nights that I accidentally found myself at the bar with my precious computer by my side. Working in television news, my laptop serves mostly recreational purposes these days. It pretty much stays by my bed all day. But on the rare occasions that it gets taken out, doesn't it deserve a cute covering as much as my phone?

Since I became well acquainted with the Apple store, I noticed they had cute sleeves for laptops, including this Michael Kors and this Kate Spade. They're both polished, professional but pretty and stylish. Perfect for toting my computer with me.

girl crush: google girls

I'm slightly obsessed with this Refinery 29 feature. The article introduces some of the girls behind Google Catalogs and Product Search. They really are innovating

I was already familiar with Krystal Bick from her blog, This Time Tomorrow, but it was fascinating to see some of the other girls she works with and, of course, the amazing Google "campus."

These girls may be some of the few who dress to impress for work at Google, but even having that sort of freedom and being surrounded by such creative minds must inspire in every aspect, including fashion.

The cherry on top is definitely the amazing facilities at Google. 5-star chefs, sushi, gyms, modern art installations, a dog policy?! Sounds pretty amazing.

wish list: asos

Browsing ASOS is a dangerous pastime. I don't really need any of these items, but I was searching for cute finds on their website for less than $100 and now these pieces seem essential to my wardrobe.

I make it a rule for myself to not even set my eye on things that aren't available in my size or a flattering color. So that narrowed down my options. Also, when I order online from anywhere, I aim to purchase things that are petite or can easily be shortened, taken in, etc. since I can't try anything on, and I have a weird aversion to returning (so much effort).

Reviewing what I picked now, it seems like I was looking for cold-weather clothing that can work as a base for layers and can be worn to work.

Refinery 29 is featuring a deal from iomoi, a lifestyle brand for "you and your gifting needs." The website has tons of cute stuff from lucite trays to pillowcases but I'm dying over their personalized calling cards.

I've been wanting fun calling cards for a while now, but my job doesn't provide me with any. However, I cringe a little when people ask for my card and I have to write down my name and e-mail on a shred of paper. Is it strange to get calling cards for yourself if you work for a big company?

If I order some, I'm definitely getting the monkey with the drink tray. I love the Indian flair and the cool cursive font.
