sailing into fall

Breton stripe shirts are the quintessential summer staple. The look originated in France in the 1800s on fisherman in Brittany and was then used by the French Navy. It was brought into fashion by Coco Chanel but has never managed to shake its reputation as a summer top.

I love the idea of taking the typically summery item and transitioning it into fall. People usually pair breton stripes with white blazers and linen pants, but they definitely look just as cute with denim and tweed, contrasting patterns, or cold weather sparkle.
